Hearing Aids and Assistive Listening devices.

Hearing Aids are sophisticated devices composed of a miniaturised microphone, amplifier, speaker and a power supply which are worn on or in the ears. There are also assistive listening devices available if a hearing aid isn't suitable.

Hearing aids are categorised by where they are worn. eg behind the ear (BTE), in the ear (ITE), completely in the canal (CIC), and CROS aids (Contralateral Rerouting Of Signals).

Assistive listening devices can be used in addition to hearing aids and in some circumstances instead of hearing aids. They include personal amplifiers, FM systems and TV headsets.
