Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT)                                                  

 

Audio-vestibular Clinic provides TRT to treat bothersome Tinnitus and Hyperacusis. TRT combines both Instruction  and Counselling about your tinnitus with the fitting of prescribed combination Hearing Aids/sound generators or sound generators as appropriate. A course of TRT comprises a counselling session every 3 months for 12 to 18 months.

 

At Audio-Vestibular Clinic our audiologist, Ms K Lo, works closely with Dr Brian Williams, ENT Physician who is trained in TRT, in a multidisciplinary team to provide TRT. As far as we know Dr Williams is the only ENT Physician trained in TRT in Australia. After medical evaluation Dr Williams undertakes TRT Instruction and Counsellling and Ms Lo fits prescribed combination Hearing Aids/sound generators or sound generators. The success rate of our program is about 70% at reducing bothersome tinnitus.
